La Villa « La Barcarolle »
La Barcarolle was built around 1929, by the famous and well-known Doctor Oscar Forel. In 1946, Professor Charles Durand and his wife moved in for quite a lot of happy years, more than thirty! The architect is L. Hessenmüller from Nyon. The house was part of a property of about 30 acres: “Les Rives de Prangins”; there were more than ten buildings mentioning the castle, the farm and detached cottages between Prangins and Promenthoux. In June 1999 hotel La Barcarolle opened its doors. Some important works have brought to the creation of a privilege place, where everything has been done for the best well-being of its guests. The origin of the name « La Barcarolle » is bound to Doctor Oscar Forel. He indeed appreciated music and to him romanticism was not an empty word. It’s Frédéric Chopin, who, at the end of his life, composed « La Barcarolle » opus 60, as a nostalgic apotheosis. An Italian lyrism, a bit peculiar for his Polish man very stamped with his origins. It’s not a happy music, but the exquisite harmony of all the elements makes one ever pleased.
